This terroir produces wines that are exceptionally full-bodied, rich and intense.
Situated to the south-west of Eguisheim, the Eichberg “Grand Cru” extends over two gentle slopes which have south-easterly exposures. At an altitude of between 220 and 340 metres beneath the “Three Castles”, this vineyard is sheltered by the foothills of the Vosges mountain range and benefits from a microclimate that is dry and warm having the lowest annual rainfall in the area around Colmar.
The terroir itself is composed of limestone, sandstone and marl.
