“Brand” – a German word meaning “fire” inspires the wines from this, the “land of fire” which have great finesse and a very particular minerality to them.
Situated at the entrance to the Munster valley and overlooking the small town of Turckheim, this vineyard takes the form of a natural amphitheatre rising to 380 metres in elevation. Thanks to its south/south-east facing slopes, this vineyard is blessed with a remarkable amount of sun. The soil is composed of sand and of the so-called Turckeim granite with black and white micas.
Legend has it that the sun fought with a dragon in this “land of fire” and the wines produced in Turckheim, including those of the Brand), had an undisputed reputation as far back as the Middle Ages.
