The most common wine to be found in the region carries the AOC Alsace classification. These wines are produced within the areas demarcated in 1962. Most of the wines are produced from single grape varietals but there are some blends too – often called Edelzwicker or Gentil. Some of the wines also specify the specific area from where their grapes originate.
